Netlea Shrimp soil produces ammonia at the beginning

I have just set up my second tank with new Netlea Shrimp soil.

I started slowly, I’ve put 2.5 kg of a soil into a 10g tank and added 2.5 gallon of aged aquarium water from my fish tank. So the tank had only 25% of water. At that has been done yesterday.

Today I checked ammonia in there and it was 4ppm! Look at the picture below.

Be careful with putting livestock in a tank with Netlea soil. A cycled filter will not help with so noticeable ammonia level.

I’ve changed 1/4 of the water in that tank today. We will see what ammonia reading will be tomorrow.
